What is the preferred brand of makeup, Mac, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, another luxury brand or pharmacies?

I dont use too much makeup only the essentials and a little eye shadow and special occasions could add eyeliner and blush, perhaps. I need darker skin and colors that stand out but lasts longer. So it seems more complaints about the MAC and that's what I usually use. Is it still safe to use a Mac? I have to catch up with marks that are oil free since I have oily skin on the Foundation and dust, but still give me the best coverage. I do however prefer to spell the Foundation. I do spend a little money, provided I get the desired effect. What are the preferred choice for women of color?
