Dressing as a princess for Halloween?

most guys go as a french maid or something repulsive when they dress as a girl on halloween. Not me… My intent is to go as a princess. The whole deal, poofy dress, makeup, shoes, hair. I have a friend offering to help, but I’d still like to find some direction of my own. any suggestions?
As far as a dress, i was thinking of a prom ball gown. Is that perhaps too extravagant?
