Destination brides- how did you find someone for hair and makeup?

I’m getting married 5 hours from where I live and I don’t know much about the area. My f iance’s family has a long history there but obviously he doesn’t know what the good salons are, he’s a boy. How did you other brides go about finding a good hair and makeup person or salon when you traveled for your wedding? I’m doing engagement photos with our photog in a few months so I would book a hair and makeup trial appointment then, and also the wedding appointment for Sept. Thanks for your help!

For me, the beauty of the type of DW I had (on the beach in the Virgin Islands) was the simplicity of it. I didn’t fuss with someone doing my hair or makeup, and I dressed myself. My hair is a simple bob style anyway, so I don’t know what any pro could have done with it that I didn’t do myself….

How about his female family members? Ask them about a good salon since they’re from there. They’d appreciate you asking them advice, and they also know good places to refer you to.
